Content Management Systems - CMS

Content Management Systems - CMS

A Content Management System – or CMS – is a software application used to create and manage digital content. In short, it lets you add, edit and delete content.

Two of the most popular systems we use are Joomla! and WordPress. Content Management Systems are particularly useful for small to medium-sized organisations, that cannot afford to employ a full-time webmaster. Simple to use, a CMS can be successfully operated by anyone, with just a little training.

Here at Suncoast Web Solutions, we will not only design and develop your new website using a CMS, we will also show you how to use the system to manage the site. Of course, we are always here should you require any technical assistance.

eCommerce

eCommerce

As websites became more commonplace, the vast majority were there simply to promote the owner’s bricks-and-mortar store. Over time, however, websites have evolved to be a key part of an organisation’s marketing strategy.

The modern website, whilst still promotional, now has the ability to act as a online store. Creating this type of website is clearly much more technical, and demands 100% perfection to ensure the site not only attracts viewers, but also successfully converts clicks to conversions.

eCommerce quite literally means ‘electronic commerce’, or the buying and selling of goods and services online. And while such a site includes many general website features, it must also incorporate extras, such as shopping carts and payment gateways.

Getting this right is crucial to the overall success of not only your website, but also your business. Research shows that more than 29% of online shoppers abandon their carts due to over complicated checkout processes.

On the other hand, your payment gateway and checkout must offer both you and your customer absolute security. It can be quite a balancing act! Our team is very experienced and skilled in developing fast, secure and easy to use eCommerce sites, so let’s talk soon.

Payment Gateway Integration

Payment Gateway Integration

A Payment Gateway allows you to automatically accept payments from customers through your website. Their payment could be for a subscription service, a product, a service, a donation to your charity or community group, or for a ticket to an event.

The Payment Gateway acts as a communication bridge between the website’s host and the merchant provider, and can accept payments via credit cards or debit cards, or through organisations like PayPal, eWay and Merchant Warrior.

With the huge growth in online shopping, PayPal is a very popular option, allowing people to send and receive money without sharing financial information. With more than 197 million PayPal accounts active throughout the world, this is really an option you need to include. eWay is one of Australia’s largest online payment gateway providers, processing more than $10 billion dollars in transactions since 1998. They work with a majority of Australian banks and merchants.

Another Australian-based online payment gateway provider is Merchant Warrior. They only deal with a select number of banks including NAB, Commonwealth Bank, ANZ, Westpac and St George.

Payment gateways can also be set up to handle payment options such as BitCoin. BitCoin is a peer-to-peer currency which is not owned by any governing authority. This form of payment is not widely popular yet but is certainly growing in acceptance.

The experienced team at Suncoast Web Solutions can work with you and the various payment gateway providers to ensure that you can accept payments from your customers through your website.

Custom Website Development

So, you’ve made up your mind to use an off-the-shelf website template, because you think it will be cheaper. That may not be the case!

Websites built using WordPress, Joomla! or other platforms certainly do offer an affordable option, and we are happy to help you with that. But please, hear us out.

Depending on your website needs, it can be more cost-effective – and cartainly more successful – if we custom-design and custom-build a website for you.

Apart from giving you a unique look and feel, in line with your business branding, a custom website is better suited in some applications as they give you the flexibility you need.

Our Website Development Process

Project Discovery

Project Discovery

An experienced consultant sits down with you to discuss the project and work out exactly what is needed in terms of the design, navigation and functionality of your website to identify the best possible solution to achieve your aims with your project.

During this stage it is very important for us to learn as much as possible about what features you would like to see in your final website. This could include functions like shopping carts, image galleries, newsletter sign ups, customised forms (such as requests for quotes), animation or movie clips etc.

Quoting and confirmation on scope of project

Quoting and confirmation on scope of project

Based on the information gathered in the initial phase, Suncoast Web Solutions then develops a quotation. If there are any changes or additions to what is required, it is ideal that these things are addressed before the project begins.

If you have not registered a domain name by this stage we strongly recommend that this is completed so that there are no issues when the project is ready to go live.

Design / Conceptual Stage

Design / Conceptual Stage

One of our team members will help you to complete our Design Brief. This form covers all the aspects of the way your website will look once completed. The design form takes approximately 30 minutes to complete and ensures that we understand your desires for what the site will look and feel like.

Once our designers have been briefed, they will come up with a conceptual drawing for you. Your feedback will help them refine their ideas so that everyone is ‘on the same page’ before the development phase commences.

While our team are working on the design concepts, we ask you to prepare the content (wording, images, video etc) for the project.

Development & Testing Phase

Development & Testing Phase

The Development phase is where we get down to the nitty-gritty. The Suncoast Web Solutions team takes the content that you have provided, integrates it into the design style that you have agreed to and creates the functionality that you’re looking for. There is no requirement for your involvement during this stage.

Once the new site has been developed and reviewed by our staff, it’s over to you to review and test the new site. This is your opportunity to make any small corrections or adjustments.

After the testing and development phase is completed, we schedule the project to go to the live environment and become your new fully functioning website!
